Hey 👋 I’m Jack Bishop, a UK-based engineering lead and maker.

I design, build and lead software with a bias for reliable systems and effective teams.

This site is my working notebook: practical notes, projects, experiments, and lessons I’d share with an engineering team.

Away from the keyboard, I’m usually training for a triathlon or taking photos, and I have a soft spot for fast machines 🏎️🚀.

Engineering background

I started my career through an Aerospace Software Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, combining study at the University of Central Lancashire with industry experience.

Since then, my work has spanned hands-on software engineering, technical architecture, engineering leadership, and mentoring. Today, I lead software teams, shape technical decisions, and help engineers deliver reliable systems without unnecessary complexity.

I’m professionally registered as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and am a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET).

In 2022, UCLan recognised my engineering and software career with an Alumni Achievement Award.

A focused tool for PCP and lease drivers to stay ahead of excess mileage charges before handback.

Built and shipped end to end with Go, SvelteKit, authentication, reminders, production email, CI/CD, and Fly.io deployment.
